Positions Available

Digital Control Inc. is seeking a full-time, passionate mid-level software developer to help develop next-generation embedded software infrastructure that will be utilized in several product-lines. Join our enthusiastic, extremely talented team as we build out modular, highly customizable C++ embedded Linux and C ST Microcontroller code. As a successful developer on this project, you will be able to take pride in your work as you see your code go to market and be leveraged by real customers.

Our navigation solutions, both software and hardware, solve real-world problems in the Horizontal Drilling Industry and are used by real customers. As such, candidate will be responsible for writing production-level code. DCI offers a highly collaborative work environment with a very challenging domain problem. The DCI Software Engineering organization is pedantic about writing clean, quality, reusable source code; further, we also strongly believe in creative freedom for the developer, place trust in him or her, and tend to not micromanage.

As a mid-level software developer, we expect the candidate to have already garnered a comprehensive understanding of how to develop on, and more importantly debug, embedded devices. Further, we also expect the candidate to have successfully taken at least one product to market that was written in either modern C or C++ code; preferably C++. Candidate will be developing software on embedded Linux and/or ST microcontrollers. Periodically, the candidate may be asked to help extend existing systems that are deployed on Windows CE and use C++; however, our current product-lines are very stable and the company is shifting resources to newer products. It will be viewed favorably if the candidate has either C# or Python experience to help write 'diagnostic tooling' and/or provisioning tools for our manufacturing plant, which is co-located at our headquarters office.

DCI is the global market leader in our space, and we do not sacrifice code quality for schedule; we will iterate our products until they are perfect because that's what our customers expect from our brand.

Key Qualifications:

  • Self-driven, results oriented developer who strives to write clean, modular and well commented code without taking short-cuts and drives their software through the 'final 10%' to take a product to market.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data structures and algorithm topics is required.
  • Experience with concurrency topics (i.e. threading) is required.
  • Strong experience with modern C++ or modern C is required; preferably modern C++.
  • Strong experience with debugging embedded devices.
  • Experience on embedded Linux, or strong willingness to learn.
  • Experience with object oriented class designs for embedded systems.
  • Experience with network programming topics (e.g. TCP, UDP, sockets, etc.) will be viewed very favorably.
  • Experience with board support and/or 'board bring-up' will be viewed very favorably.
  • Experience with C# and/or Python will be viewed favorably; preferably C#.
  • Experience with Windows CE will be viewed favorably.
  • Willingness to work on a team and can work in a fluid, highly collaborative environment.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a passion for writing software and building stuff.

Experience:

Candidate is expected to have a B.S. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited university plus at least 4 years of industry experience. Further, it is strongly desired that candidate can showcase exciting projects he or she built in either an industrial or at-home setting.
